VIOLET GRACE ATKINSON

TASTEMAKER SERIES

We adore your personal style and approach to dressing. How does your style influence your space?

My space is a mix of modern and traditional influences which is an exact representation of my personal style. I get bored with one aesthetic and am always seeking to feel nostalgia and unexpectedness when I put together a look – I think this also extends into my living space!

Talk us through a typical day in the life of Violet Atkinson:

There is actually no typical day in my life which is both exciting and also exhausting. Most days when I am in Sydney start one of two ways: either a sunrise shoot on location or a coffee at my local café/florist MyFlowerMan in Tamarama. From there, it will either be a flurry of showroom visits (for press showings or styling looks for shoots), a work lunch, moodboarding at home, location scouting or project delivery to clients. I was a lawyer for 3.5 years and whilst occasionally I crave the constancy of staying in the one spot, I really love how random my days are.

What keeps you inspired?

Music (I have it playing all day – especially techno and classical), people watching, being in nature and travel. Probably very typical sources of inspiration for most people however what I think is interesting is that each individual gets something different every time from these sources of inspiration – it is an endless well.

Must-have pieces from our collection?

I finally found my dream coffee table - The Paris in stainless steel. I currently have these other pieces on my wishlist:

- Cookie Side Table in Rosso Francia
- Plinth Medium in Rosa Levanto
- Classic Rosa Vase Large (perfect!)
- Chocolate Marble Ashtray (great gift)

Do you have a story around a favourite piece you own? (This could be jewellery, clothes, art, furniture).

As a stylist I have a lot of incredible archive pieces that I have slowly built up, but there is one that immediately flew into my mind. Picture this: I am livestreaming Raf Simons debut for Prada in January 2021 - Prada Men’s Fall 2021. A fuchsia oversized leather bomber comes down the runway and it is incredible. Some 6 months later I managed to land my hands on it in a sample sale. It is a piece I will have forever (pictured).

Local Guide

Coffee spot:
MyFlowerMan in Tamarama

Bar with the best mood:
This depends on the mood! I have a lot of beautiful events as part of my work so when it comes to downtime with friends I love chill and vibey. The Shop & Wine Bar in Bondi Beach is super laidback and the hummus and haloumi with a glass of chilled red is perfect. Piccolo Bar in Potts Point is a cute Italian spot with very good aperitif!

Favourite boutique:
Literally impossible to name – but I will say one of my favourite pastimes is cruising into the CBD on the weekend and walking through all my favourite luxury stores. There is really nothing better than seeing fibres and textures in person and gabbing on to the sales assistants about fashion history!

Go-to dinner spot:
Super laidback – I love Bar Pho in Bondi
Live music –
Hubert in the city has live jazz and a very good French cheeseburger
More vibes – Pellegrinos in Surry Hills
