Stone Care Guide

We only use the finest grades of stone in our furniture. Natural stone is an investment that with the right care, will last decades. Following this simple care guide will ensure you many years of enjoyment. We choose our stones very carefully staying away from thinner and softer “fossil limestones” so you can worry less about the longevity of your heirloom piece.

Care

  • Wipe up spills immediately with a clean cloth
  • Always use a drink coaster
  • Avoid alkaline or acidic liquids
  • Apply protective pads to the undersides of items being displayed on the stone surfaces to avoid scratching

Marble is a fragile material that requires care when moving or placing down to avoid chipping or breaking so please always take care.

    Cleaning
It is important to use a stone/marble cleanser to clean your piece. If you don’t have one, choose a cleanser that is: non-acidic, non-abrasive with a neutral Ph.
There are many brands that will work. We have tested and recommend the following:

Please only use a neutral PH cleanser as above, never use abrasive or acidic cleansers. Avoid alkaline or acidic liquids (Citrus, Orange Oil, Coffee, Vinegars).
Should you encounter spills, ensure it is blotted immediately, followed by a cleanse.
While natural stones are okay with high heat, it is always best to avoid sudden hot/cold changes such as hot pans being placed directly on stone.

    Sealing

Our marble pieces aren't sealed. If you would like to seal the surface, we recommend using Aqua Mix Sealer’s Choice Gold-Rapid Cure which is a water-based, low VOC sealer that lasts up to 15 years.

    Stainless Steel Care Guide

Stainless Steel is a premium metal with a lustre like no other that’s known for its durability. To ensure the longevity of this material, we recommend following the below care guide:

    Care

    • Always use a stainless steel cleaner
    • Wipe up spills immediately with a clean cloth
    • Always use a drink coaster and placemats to protect the surface
    • Avoid alkaline or acidic liquids (especially Potassium Hydroxide)
    • Apply protective pads to the undersides of items being displayed on stainless steel surfaces to avoid scratching

    Cleaning

The best way to maintain the lustre, to remove any marks and to ensure the longevity of the material is to use a purpose-designed stainless steel cleaner and protector. We have tested and recommend the following:

There can sometimes be confusion when it comes to stainless steel cleaning. Popular multi-purpose household cleaners can be very harmful to the stainless steel surface. In particular, Potassium Hydroxide is caustic in nature and will destroy most metals - stainless steel is resistant to it but it will eventually cause surface rust and 'tea stains'.

Other sprays like orange oil and acidic-based cleaners may also cause surface rust and tea stains.

    How to Remove Tea Stains

    • Mix 4 x tablespoons of white vinegar with 1 x tablespoon of water in a cup
    • Sponge onto stainless steel surface & rub gently using a bristle brush (not a scourer)
    • Leave for 10 minutes
    • Follow up with more buffing to remove tea staining
    • Stubborn stains will require more effort
    • Rinse after with water and then apply the below recommended cleaners & protectors
    • Applying these regularly will help to avoid tea stains and marks to your stainless steel product

    Timber Care Guide

Timber is a natural material that characterises over time, adapting to its environment and use. If you prefer to keep the showroom appearance of your piece, we recommend the following for surface protection:

    Care

    • Always use tablecloths, placemats, and drink coasters.
    • Avoid placing hot items like drinks directly onto surfaces.
    • Avoid oils, butter and grease including spills of these liquids.
    • Apply protective pads to the undersides of items displayed on countertops to avoid scratching.
    • If placed close to a fire or in a heavily air-conditioned environment, this will create movement in timber.

    Cleaning

    • Clean the surface frequently with a clean damp cloth to remove dirt and dust.
    • Do not use abrasive cleaners or chemicals.
    • A natural hard wax (clear matte finish) can be applied to further help retain the showroom finish every 12 months.

      Tile Care Guide

Our tiles and grout are robust materials so minimal care is required but we do recommend you follow the below steps:

      • Regularly wipe tiles and grout clean with a damp or light soapy sponge.
      • Remove any spills/stains by wet sponge immediately. Lighter colours grouts are especially susceptible to staining if the spill is left on the surface for a long period of time. Always use a drink coaster.

We seal the grout with a water-based sealer to help prevent staining and to also make the grout surface easier to clean.

        Use of furniture

Tiled furniture is made for interior use only. Following traditional tiling methods, every piece is made from strong, durable and versatile materials that are made to last.

        Variations in product

As each piece is made by hand, there will be slight variations in the lines of grout. This is a natural result of tiling and is a feature of the product.
